You have the capacity to resist immediate judgment, to reject a world of prescribed dualities...good and evil, right and wrong, traditional and modern. It is this ability to use our senses, without preconceptions, that opens our lives to direct experience. It allows us to discover the "real thing," the thing we long to know but that is hidden in a world full of symbols and information. Symbols regenerate, each life cycle bringing us no closer to truth. At tres birds workshop, symbology and stylistic references are absent from our work. Inhabitants of our built forms are encouraged to experience the materiality, the structure, and the resulting light and shadows with their senses wide open. With our clients, we rediscover the real thing. We expose the very essence of materials, stripped of association, allowing those materials to vibrate. The forms that emerge are cast from the land, free from intellectual interference. They are the entities that have dwelled on the land, the light, and the shadows that follow.
